100$ oil barrel around your neck

Black Crude by Design Glut is a reminder that cheap oil is a thing of the past.
“Black Crude” is a project that Design Glut developed back in November 2007. At that point, the cost of oil came very close to $100/barrel, and they decided to create a piece which would commemorate that event. They announced that whenever oil did reach $100, they would release 100 limited-edition crude necklaces in black (they were already selling crude necklaces in gold on their website).

Oil hit the $100 mark on January 2nd, 2008. Each of the limited edition pieces is engraved with the date “1-2-2008″ and “$100″. The necklaces commemorate a piece of history, and are also a reminder that cheap oil is a thing of the past. At Design Glut they hope to infuse fashion with a bit of intelligent thought, while at the same time not sacrificing on beauty.
